Japanese restaurant "MIKADO"

Today, I went to Japanese restaurant with my Japanese friends, my summer school teacher and my study abroad's coordinators.
One of my study abroad coordinators is an ESL teacher, so she teaches international students English now.
She got afternoon off today, so she suggested to us, "Let's go to Japanese restaurant for lunch!"

After morning class, we went to Japanese restaurant "MIKADO" by car.
There are many Asian people as waiters.
First, I thought they were all Japanese, but some of them were Chinese.

I ate KATSUDON, one octopus SUSHI and green tea ice cream!
I cannot eat TONKATSU easily here because they don't have strong fire, so I chose KATSUDON!
It is unbelievable for Canadian to eat raw fish, so I ate SUSHI too.

Eri who is my Japanese friend ate TEMPURA ice cream.
I couldn't image what TEMPURA ice cream is.
I was so surprised when I saw it.
Today, I cannot upload pictures well I don't know why, so I will upload pictures tomorrow!Sorry about that...

Anyway, I really enjoyed eating Japanese food!!
I will save money for going there again!hahaha
Include tip, I paid 18$ for lunch.
I don't think it is expensive, so I wanna go there many times if possible.

I tried making icing cake

At my host mom's brother's house, I tried making icing cake.

My host mom's sister-in-law asked me, "Do you wanna try making icing cake while you are staying here?"

I answered "Yes!"

And she said, "Please think about design by tomorrow!"

However, I had no idea about that.

On July 9th,I had, my friend, Eri's birthday party at her house.

So I suggested to her, "I wanna make a birthday cake for her"

I wanted make "Japanese" icing cake, so I said to her,"I wanna make cherry blossom's cake!"

So we saw many pictures of cherry blossoms on the Internet and composed design.

On Saturday night, we made cherry blossoms.

It was pretty hard to make suitable color.

My host mom's sitser-in-law doesn't know cherry blossom well. So I had to check the color which she made.

Needless to say, we have to make not only icing but also a cake!

We made two chocolate cake and decorated them.

First, I cut cakes half.

And put on chocolate icing.

And put on another chocolate cake.

I chose green icing for back ground because it means "green tea"

So I put on green icing.

And rolled icing so that they would be flat.

Let's decorate!!

Get my hair cut

Hello. How are you?

Yesterday, I got my hair cut.

My host mother's cousin cut my hair at her house.

She had worked at the exclusive salon till she got married.

So she must be a great hairdresser.

My hair was heavy, so I wanted my hair to be light.

So I asked her so and she cut my hair.

It cost 20$.

I don't think it is expensive.

I want her to cut my hair when I need from now on!

YW camp

Hello. How are you?

Mari Okamoto's host father attached our movies at YW camp to YouTube.
The first day of YW camp, we did mini dramas.
We had to plan story and acted in front of other Young Women.
They are my cabin's member!
And a girl who wears red pants is me!

Normal Sunday

Hi, how are you?

Today, I went to church in the morning.
I could meet many church girls.
We talked about YW camp in the class.
And we sang a song in front of people.
This song's name is "One by one"
We sang it every day during YW camp.
It is so nice a song. I love it.
We got "One by one"'s CDs in the end of YW camp from leaders.
So I am listening to it now.

At supper, I talked with my host mom about my summer vacation.
I have summer school in July but I don't have any plans in August.
My host mom wants to go camping again this summer, but she cannot.
This is because she is a pregnant now and her baby due is on August 10th.
So she cannot do activities like camping anymore in this summer.
So my host family also doesn't have any plans in August. Only getting a new baby.

I want to go to the swimming pool in August as much as possible.
I want to do exercise a lot.
I'd like to keep my weight. Needless to say, if I can, I want to lose my weight...hahaha
So anyway, I don't want to get fat anymore.
I will go to the swimming pool in August.

And I will have some activities at church in August.
I like to join church events, so I am looking forward to going there!

I am home and Happy Birthday, Hiroshi!

Hello, long time no see again.
How's it going?
I am home now. I mean I came back home from my host mom's brother's house.
I had wonderful experiences at his house and really enjoyed them.
I really appreciate their kindness.
I can often meet them at my host mom's parents' house, so I was not so sad when I left their house.
I was so glad when they said "I miss you"
However, we can meet soon! Thanks sooo much!!

I will tell you about YW camp and things which I did at my host mom's brother's house little by little.
I have no time to do that today, so please wait for me!hahaha

Yesterday was my classmate's birthday.
His name is Hiroshi.
There are only 9 people in my class in Toyo High School, so we are good friends.
Last year, we celebrated our birthday each other, but now, we cannot do that.
This is because 4 of my classmates live in America, so we cannot meet them.

In the beginning of June, I suggested to my Japanese friends, "Let's send a birthday card to Hiroshi!"
They agreed with me and we wrote message for him and took a picture of us.

And I got an email from him and he said "Thanks noma"

I guess he had a wonderful birhtday with his host family and friends.

From tomorrow...

Hi, how are you?

From tomorrow, I won't be able to write my blog again for about one week.
This is because my host family is gonna "family camp", and I will stay at my host mom's brother's house.
They are gonna "family camp" from tomorrow to next Saturday.
However, I won't go there with them because I will have summer school and YW(young women) camp.

In the middle of April, my study abroad program coordinator sent an email to me about summer school.
It will start on July 9.
I told my host mom about that and she said "You have to choose summer school, YW camp or family camp"
My host family will go to family camp from July 6 to July 14.
Summer school will start on July 9.
And I can go to YW camp from July 10 to July 13.

So I could choose
-going to family camp with my host family
-only summer school
-summer school + YW camp

Finally, I chose "summer school+YW camp"
I am so sorry, but I can spend time with my host family anytime, so I chose to go to YW camp.

So I have to stay with other family while my host family is gonna family camp.
My host mom asked her brother's wife and she said "OK"
So I will stay with them.
However, as you know, I will go to YW camp for 4 days so I will spend time with them for about 5 days.

I hope my host family will enjoy their camp without me.
I think it is a good chance for my host family to spend time with only family.

In YW camp, I will go to Calgary. It is the first time for me to go there.
We will enjoy swimming, doing canoe, singing, making foods, hiking and so on.
Sadly, my good church friend, Alex, won't go there...
This is because she has to go to summer school.
I was sad to hear that, but there will be many good church girls!
So I will enjoy YW camp with them!!

I will enjoy my summer vacation too!

Long time no see!

Hello, how are you?

I am sorry I didn't write my blog for a long time.
This is because my host family moved to a new house so I cannot use the Internet.
From today, I can use the Internet, so I will start my blog again!

Moving was so hard for me.
However, it was a good experience.

My host family and I are busy still now, so if I have a time, I will write about moving.
